The blue economy represents sustainable utilization of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and ocean ecosystem health. India’s vast coastline, maritime heritage, and growing recognition of ocean potential create significant opportunities for innovations in marine technology, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy, maritime transport, and ocean conservation. This theme will encompass technologies that harness ocean resources responsibly from offshore renewable energy and aquaculture to marine biotechnology and ocean cleanup solutions among others. The focus includes both traditional maritime industries enhanced by technology and emerging blue economy sectors that balance economic development with environmental sustainability.
