Hridyantra
Advanced implantable blood pump for partial heart-failure patients
Vision
Providing lifelong support to end-stage heart failure patients for an improved quality of life
Problem
Patients with end-stage heart failure face limited access to affordable ventricular assist devices, resulting in inadequate hemodynamic support, leading to high mortality, prolonged hospitalization, and limited bridge-to-transplant options.
Solution
'Hridyantra' provides continuous mechanical circulatory support, augmenting cardiac output and systemic perfusion to enable ventricular unloading, hemodynamic stabilization, and improved survival in significantly weakened hearts.
Potential
The technology targets thousands of heart failure patients in India annually, with the potential to support millions globally through affordable, scalable mechanical circulatory support.
Target Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries include end-stage heart failure patients, cardiac surgeons, transplant centers, critical care hospitals, healthcare systems, medical device manufacturers, and low-resource regions worldwide that require affordable mechanical circulatory support solutions
Current Users
The LVAD is undergoing R&D trials and translational development at IIT Kanpur, with clinical collaborators supporting planned preclinical validation and future deployment in cardiac care centers.
